OK, so I do not own one of these units. I research and thinking about buying one. It struck me, with all complaints swimming accuracy, I should mention something: The electromagnetic signals (eg GPS signals) is NOT easy to penetrate water. Just ask the Navy. Any water than distilled water has a conductivity, especially salt water. It acts as a shield Farady – GPS signal hits a conductor (water) and creates a current in the conductor. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM (FORERUNNER 310 XT). BUY Forerunner 305th The 310 XT almost exactly the same as 305, but you can get a 305 for around $ 150 and 310XT costs about $ 400.De 310 XT has two advantages 1: You can swim with it (but GPS does not work in water). 2: It has a vibrator to signal different things. Of 305 has a buzzer that is difficult to hear in NOISY VENUES (LIKE A MARATHON WITH 45,000 people). Great disadvantage. . . . . . . . . . THERE IS NO MANUAL !!!!!!!!!!! The brand new item was the wrong piece that never worked, although the technology is unpredictable, I expect the seller to check prior to shipment. I hope that other companies could compete for this lucrative athletes GPS-clock market. Garmin has a top-down mentality that thinks that they come out with good products. The 310XT is double the price of 305 and no trace of the water! Has anyone on the Garmin actually test these products before they are introduced? For all the criticism received for Garmin 305, they never had a serious firmware update to resolve problems and upgrade ideas for two plus years I spent det.Den big difference between Apple and Garmin? Apple pushes the envelope to create a better product through firmware updates. Apple products do you feel that you are getting your money’s worth even years after you bought their product. Clothing or other, wants you to spend your money on the latest unproven product. Take 405 – GPS watch come to market, was never tested in the wet or rainy weather. The sensitive touch dial stops working, do not sweat on it or run in the rain! Garmin Training Center software also never updated. My 305 decided to download multiple copies of my computer run multiple times. I had to spend hours away copies. Spend hours with Garmin Tech Support to find that they have no idea what the problem was. Never got caught. . . Please Timex, jump into this lucrative market and a watch for a triathlete would love.
