I’m trying to help a friend get a part to fix her 5 year old Horizon elliptical machine. When their products reach this age, they pass off parts & service to a company called U. S. Assembly. I’ve tried to reach both the manufacturer and U. S. Assembly via phone messages and emails for the past two weeks. I’ve gotten no responses. Stay far away from this product unless you like the idea of discarding an expensive piece of equipment because you can’t get your hands on a $20 part.

My EX-57 was purchased from Amazon and delivered by ABF Freight Systems in Brooklyn, NY. ABF called and confirmed it would be delivered into the lobby of my building between 9 am and 5 pm on a designated day. My sitter went home at 5 pm that day and the truck finally showed up at 5:45 pm with only one guy in the truck. He told me that he could only deliver the machine if I could help him offload it from the truck. I pointed out that I was carrying a 15 month old baby on my arm and he said he could come back tomorrow (and I could skip another day at work waiting for him). I ended up putting my 15 month old down in the apartment and running down to get the 150-200 pound 6′ long crate off the truck. He had no ramp or lift so he lowered off the tailgate by hand with me catching it and we jointly rolled it end over end into the lobby. I called ABF and they told me that all drivers deliver alone and that lobby delivery means that you help the driver carry the crate. They effectively said that if you can’t help, it is your tough luck. If you aren’t in good shape or have a bad back, plan to get additional help. The machine itself was very easy to assemble. The action feels smooth and the machine is quiet.

We bought this machine at a local retailer for $399 on sale. We liked this machine over others we looked at and checked out for several reasons. Pricepoint was among the lower of the quality built machines. Warranty is in-line with higher end products and includes onsite service. Machine is about one foot shorter than other units.
I did have one washer missing from parts bag #3, the WISCONSIN based customer service was quick and efficient in getting me a replacement part.
Machine was assembled in about an hours time. It took about 20 minutes to unpackage the machine.

we bought this online after doing some research. We were not looking for the rock bottom model or a cadillac version either
this model fit our neeeds. its easy to assemble. and it is very well made. Wife and I both use it about 3x / wk and after 2 months of owning it there aer no issues
biggest pros: heavy weight construction, very / super quiet
biggest con: no backlit display so if you have the lights off or down low, you will be challenged to read the display

When I received this item, the delivery brought it up the steps and put it in my house, no problems.
I put it together in one room, and my wife then wanted me to move it to another room. Where I had initially set it up, it worked great.
When I moved it, the place I moved it the wheels worked very well to ensure a smooth ride, if you have it up at a high enough angle. Unfortunately I set it down a little hard, the thing is heavy, and from there the problems started.
The digital display no longer functioned properly. It would not turn on unless my right foot was near the front bottom most portion of the stride, and it then shut right off.
It had developed a squeek in the move. According to the manual, it is an issue of leveling. There is no way to use a level effectively on the item, since there are no real straight lines, everything is curved or at angles. I have spent two hours trying to get it to stop squeeking, but it won’t. The book states that if leveling won’t fix it, then you need to completely disassemble it, grease all the joints and reassemble it. In the process of disassembly, some of the plastic guards on the hinges broke, because the snaps wouldn’t come properly loose. I have disassembled it three times, and the squeeking will not go away, and customer support will do nothing about it.
Customer support is a mixed machine. When you call, you are able to leave your contact information, and maintain your position in “line”, and they will call you back. After a day without a response, I called and left a second message. They called me about twelve hours after the second message, at nearly 9pm.
The tech was great about the display issue. We talked about it, I told them I thought it was a loose wire, they agreed, and sent me a new display, power adapter, and cable that attaches the two. They said to try to replace the adapter, if that didnt work then the display. If that didn’t work, then to replace the cable, but if I didn’t feel confident, they could get someone out to do the cable for me.
The parts arrived about three days later, with no instructions. There is a wire in the display that has to be attached that you don’t have to attach during normal assembly. It ended up being the wires to the power jack having broken off. I was able to replace the cable, and it works very well.
Again, they will not do anything about the squeaking.
Aside from the squeaking, the machine is very quiet, much quieter than some other ellipticals that I have owned. The action is smooth, and the interface on the display is nice.
The heart rate monitor is complete garbage.
