Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred
This is a really good workout. It’s geared a little more to advanced exercisers, but the choreography is fairly basic and you will definately feel this the next day.
There are three workouts that combine toning and aerobics together which are about a half an hour each. This way, you’re burning fat and toning muscles at the same time. It’s a little challenging, but fun and effective. The first workout is the easiest of the three and from there it gets more challenging. The most challenging workout is tough like she shows on The Biggest Loser (ie travelling pushups and tough jumps etc). It’s a good idea if you’re intermediate to begin either at the start or middle and stick to that for a while and then move on. Each workout uses toning, kickboxing and ab work.

As I read all these reviews and saw some clips (here, on Collage and somewhere else) I would really, really like to buy this DVD. But I can’t because it is playable only in region 1. I come from Prague, Czech Republic, heart of Europe and we are region 2. I have no problems with DVDs playable in all regions. I have purchased some other – all regions – DVDs (only some of FIRM, Erin O’Brien) so I can tell. . . I am very disappointed.

I wish I could have rated this NO STARS!!!
I ordered this product on 2/27/2009. I am getting married on 5/16/2009 and wanted to use this as a way of losing weight & toning up for my big day. Well. . . it’s March 30th and I have yet to receive the DVD. I am very disappointed. I have ordered other products off of Amazon and have never been disappointed. There is usually quick delivery & reasonable prices. . .
I wish that there was some sort of action that Amazon could take regarding this seller.

I originally submitted a good review for this product to the seller but have changed my opinion completely as the dvd is terrible condition and I cannot even use it because it skips and gets stuck every 15 seconds. It is not dirty just damaged and it was a waste of my money!!!

The first problem with this workout DVD is the cover photo: the trainer has no neck (her chin dips below her shoulders), a thick waist, and hunched shoulders. Her bad posture makes her look like the Incredible Hulk: hefty, clumsy, and ugly. It’s sort of a caricature of the “overmuscled, unfeminine” woman that used to dissuade women from liftiong weights. It certainly does not inspire me to want to do the workout.
More substantively is the DVD’s focus on abdominal work. This is apparently based on the notion that if you work your abs, you’ll end up with a six-pack; that notion is itself based on the fantasy that there is such a thing as spot reduction (i. e. , that you can remove belly fat by working belly muscles).
The concept of spot reduction has been exposed as completely false. You can do crunches til the cows come home and it won’t do a thing for your belly fat. If you want a flat stomach, you have to work your largest muscle groups (your legs), and not waste time on trivial little muscles in your abdomen. Your abs should get no more attention than other similarly small muscles, like the triceps: yes, you should work them, but by no means should they be a focus of any exercise program.
(Similarly, the idea that working abdominal muscles will eliminate back pain has also been exposed as false. There is simply no reason to focus on the abs any more than, say, the biceps. )

I prefer Debbie Sieber’s workouts. This one was just a waste of time and money. Jillina’s style is a bit masculine – some of you may like that. I don’t understand why this is a best seller.
