Two long-standing powerhouse investment expert and author, Ellis and Malkiel has been formed to write a simple investing guide for the uninitiated. This book is best suited for those individuals who have very limited or no investment knowledge, as well as for investors who have not had any success or can not seem to make money consistently, especially in bull markets. This short and concise book covers the fundamental prerequisites for investment in a clear step-by-step. Many new investors will benefit from its down to earth, easy to follow advice. Seasoned investors will not find anything new here. The keys to a successful investment according to the authors is: save early and consistently, with the help of businesses and government sponsored pension conditions to build wealth, diversification using index funds, rebalancing annually, using dollar-cost average, and to invest for the long haul by ignoring marknadssvängningar.Författarna strongly believe in buy-and-hold mantra and the efficient market hypothesis. I use this method with low cost index funds is completely outdated in today’s economic world in which we have seen two crashes in the stock market over the past decade where investors lose $ 11000000000000 by market value. As the late Nobel laureate economist Paul Samuelson, said: “The longer you own stocks, the greater the risk for a devastating loss.” Therefore, buy-and-hold is doomed to misslyckas.Dagens investors need an active investment strategy using a specific action plan with specific buy and sell rules. Because most investors will not or do not want to consider an active investment approach, so this book probably will best suit their needs and provide a decent return, even if it is subject to full investment in the future bear markets and crashes will happen, as they have in the förflutna.Köp and holding index funds are really a viable strategy, but it’s definitely a risk, more risk than most investors realize, and certainly not an optimal strategy. Just as in sports, a winning team requires both offensively and defensively. Buy-and-hold does not offer a defensive strategy when it is needed most – during bear markets and crashes – and it is a major deficiency that is important for investors to förstå.Intressant authors probably did a surprising statement: “With mapping is akin to astrology . This view is ridiculous in today’s world in the light of hundreds of members of the Market Technician’s Association certified market technician, the many members of the National Association of Active Investment Managers, and the many large institutions and financial companies that have technical analysts on staff who use charts for to identify exit and entry points for the market. Using the chart has helped many investors and institutions to avoid this latest bear market. For example, using only the 200-day moving average with the big market, on average, among other technical indicators, stock market losses were greatly reduced by the market yield from the September 2008 market debacle inträffade.Sammanfattningsvis can be said that the authors present a motive for the using the well-known buy-and-hold strategy. They do not seem to be governed by the scattering and crushing crashes in the last decade, and it is their right. Investors should understand that buy-and-hold is a dangerous strategy in volatile times, and that they might want to consider alternative methods of investing itself in order to protect their hard earned money in the future. I’ve been looking for a book to share the overall basics of financial management. Being and investors for nearly 45 years I have learned a lot. I have been asked by younger relatives what steps to take to invest. Since each situation is different, it is difficult to give good advice in a conversation when even the basics of financial management can not be adopted. This book not only explains the basics of a real person’s mandate to address the paycheck options, banks, etc., but also lay out a basic economic strategy for the person who does not want to make this a daily, weekly or monthly routine. It begins by revealing that a person can invest if they are first savings and zero balances on revolving credit. The step by step up to investing as essential investments over time, followed by annual maintenance (read the book a year) makes this a timeless tool. It only takes two hours to read. I bought seven books for my nephews and neices. It just may inspire financial freedom! Rating: 5 / 5

I’m just getting started with investing and looking for a good overview, which this definitely is. Spend a nice clear path for what should be solid and conservative investment plan. Quick read on concise, awesome for consumption in a single IPAD.Det complaint I have is with the index of IPAD version. There is a list of conditions, but no links to the pages. Just seems like a quirk in this form of media. The book itself was fantastic, however. Rating: 4 / 5

Parts of this investment is, as advertised, a nice primer for young adults who want to know a bit about money and investing works. The writing style is quite boring, and not suited for young adults or those new to invest (their target), but for those who are well versed in the economic literature – so this imbalance in the style makes the book much less valuable. The five key principles outlined in the book (save, rate, diversify, avoid mistakes, keep it simple) gives good advice, but again, it is simply a collection of common knowledge for those who read such books, and perhaps too general for those who do not. Even Malkiel and Ellis writes expertly about investment vehicles that they are most familiar with (stocks and bonds), but make no effort to deal with other investment vehicles (real estate, small business ownership, etc.).
