The number one reason why
diets go wrong is there is a misconception as to what a diet really is.
Too many people assume that a diet means to eat less, but in fact this
is as far from the truth as you can get.
The assumption that loosing
weight can be done through eating less food is not a very sound one.
Eating less food will eventually catch back up to you.
The only real
way to diet is to
eat healthy foods.
These healthy foods are not only
good for you, but they allow your natural body functions to occur
uninhibited. When you try top eat less though, eventually after you
have lost the weight, you body as a natural defence mechanism will try
storing up more energy (fat) in case it happens again.

This ultimately leads to what is most commonly referred to as a yo-yo
diet plan in which you may loose the weight, but afterwards not only do
you gain it back, but you also gain more weight. This is not a healthy
way to diet.
By definition, a diet is the habitual nourishment to sustain life.
Nowhere in the definition does it say to eat less! A diet should be
nothing more than a healthier new alternative to the bad eating habits
which caused the weight gain in the first place.
Diets go wrong because of this misunderstanding that a diet plan means
eating less food. You are more likely to loose more weight over a
shorter time period by simply changing the types of foods that you eat
on a daily basis to those which provide the most effective forms of
nutrients necessary for the function of maintaining a healthy and
active lifestyle.
In other words, do not starve yourself or eventually you will have to
deal with it coming back or worse. Instead, move from eating the foods
that you know are a large contributor to your weight gain in the first
place, to foods that are high in proteins, vitamins and nutrients.
These will give you the energy that you need to perform daily exercises
which in turn leads to the safe and healthy weight loss that you want.
Be safe and always remember to think ahead and completely plan out your
new weight loss program before committing to it to prevent possible
failure. Find out which foods are causing your weight gain and instead
of eating less, focus on replacing those foods with something that is
more healthy for you to eat and possibly tastes just as good.
